Is email important to Google, Microsoft and Yahoo?

The three webmail services that these companies are offering are free but one of the "gateways" is extremely important for all of their "money printing machines".

And email can not die yet
Strangely enough, in just a few years, people have declared "Dead Email" several times. In fact, we still have to depend on it more than most people think and more importantly, the world has no alternative.
Google knows this. Microsoft knows this.
